Design system transition
Design system transition
The final interface built using Fuse components represented a step back in visual terms when compared to the Beta system. While functional, it made evident the differences between both approaches, which led us to keep pushing for a review of the visual direction and to introduce an additional research phase focused on understanding user preferences.
At that point, three different design systems were coexisting within the same application. From a user experience perspective, removing at least one of those systems became critical to reduce fragmentation and improve consistency across the product.
After several UX consultancy sessions and in close collaboration with developers and the Product Manager, we defined a clear plan to redesign the design system. This plan was approved by business stakeholders, and during the planning sessions we aligned on the first coordination efforts for Q4 2022.
The redesigned system was developed by the same external team that created Fuse, this time working closely with the team I led, People Matter stakeholders, and users.
Beta 2.0 was released in June 2023.
